Last day in Prague
Good morning, Charles!
We set our alarm for 6:30 a.m. because we wanted to see the famous Charles Bridge before there were too many tourists. (Of course, that seemed like an outstanding idea the night before, not so much at 6:30 the next morning.)
We took a tram (below) to our destination ...
We got an early start -- but didn't beat The Brides. 🙂
Construction started on the Charles Bridge in 1357. Now a pedestrian bridge, it's lined with 30 statues. We took our time walking over the bridge, so grand in the morning light. .. and appreciated being able to wander back and forth.
BTW, here's an internet photo (below) of crowds on the bridge that happen about every day -- something we avoided!
Looking at scenery from the Charles Bridge gave us new looks at Prague.
A resident of Prague had told us to put five fingers on this cross that's on a plaque on the bridge (below) for good luck. The Mister and I did it but he said he thinks we're already very lucky people. I agree.
Impressive towers are at each end of the bridge, a fun way to start and end your stroll.
From a bridge from the 14th century ... to the Apple Museum?!? Makes sense to me.
For some reason, the largest private collection of Apple products is in Prague. Earl and I both said we wished Evan could have been with us! (Especially me, because if Evan were here, I could be playing with my grandchildren instead of wandering these displays.)
Steve Jobs memorabilia (below) was included, starting with his business card ...
I chuckled reading this quote (below) as part of a display...
Fourteenth century bridge ... Apple Museum ... what would be next? A candy store, of course (below) ...
... followed by an unusual adventure for The Mister (below). He "flew" a Boeing 737 simulator at a place called My Airlines. I discovered this place while internet searching for things to do in Prague and Earl was glad I did. He got to pick the airports to fly in and out of ... and spent an hour having a ball.
I got to be in a passenger seat (below) ... and even had a flight attendant ask if I wanted anything to drink!
Also during this last day in Prague, we found some time to sit by the Vltava River (our view, below) and just read our books.
A terrific day, as we end our stay in Prague. Thanks to fellow travelers who told us, "You gotta go to Prague." Now we're just sorry we gotta be leaving.
Next stop: two days of driving to get to our "anchor" - a longer stay - in Brugge, Belgium. We'll be making overnight stops in Nuremberg and Cologne, Germany. (And if I really did get good luck from that plaque on the bridge, neither place will have a technology museum.)
Thanks for reading my blog!
